Take the provider version check off the turn path and warn on old CLIs
Turns no longer run a provider CLI's --version before starting, and Napdock now warns when an installed CLI is too old.
Under heavy load a Claude turn and a side chat both failed with a timeout, because every turn first ran claude --version and never used the answer. Turns and side chats no longer do that. Versions are now checked in the background during the provider status check, with 45 seconds per probe, and cached per binary.
A CLI older than Napdock supports now shows “Update needed” in Settings > Providers and Settings > Devices, in the model menu, and in a callout in sessions on that provider. It shows the installed and required versions and the update command for how that CLI was installed, with Copy update command. An old or unchecked CLI is still offered and still runs.
The minimums are Claude Code 2.1.302, Codex 0.163.0 and Pi 1.0.0. Saved provider settings reset to the new format.
